SCHOOL TOURS & EVENTS

Sid's farm invites school children and individual families for a discovery tour at our farm !!
School tours and farm events are a great educational experience and also lots of fun. During the tours, kids and families will get an insight into the entire backend process of what is involved in getting milk from the cows to the refrigerators in your homes. Families can also spend a fun relaxing day at the farm on open days.

Here is what we do on our tours -

• Cow milking demonstration.
• What our cows eat - A tour of our natural grass growing operations, food forest and feed preparation unit.
• A walk through the milk processing plant.
  • - Milk Testing facility - How we test our milk for adulterants and antibiotics to make sure it is completely safe.
  • - Pasteurization - The science of it and why it is done (kids and families will get to see an actual pasteurization unit).
• Live cultures & good bacteria - (A practical demonstration on how to make curd).
• Food Safety, Packaging, Storing. Why we refrigerate dairy products (good bacteria versus bad bacteria).
• Fun tractor rides!
• Plant a tree activities.

Schools that are interested can contact us to schedule an appointment. Families that are interested in the tour can come in on open days hosted at our farm on the 2nd and 4th Saturday of every month. (Please call in advance and register with us since we can accommodate only a few people at the farm). We charge a nominal fee for our tours and events.
